Well built, nice ash. Tends to be harsh half way down. I prefer a smoother but still tasty maduro.

Had burn issues and the ash fell off every 1/8 inch for the first 3rd. Cnaue issues through half of the smoke. Flavors started off good but dropped out in the first 10 minutes. I would not waist time with this one!

I've had 3 of these cigars now. Trying to give them a solid chance. They sat in my humidor for 2 to 3 weeks before I smoked the first one. The first cigar was just OK. Kind of bland in flavor, just OK draw and construction. The 2nd cigar had major construction issues. After 10 minutes of smoking the cigar began tunnelling really bad and then got really hot and stopped producing smoke, all before the 1st 3rd was done. Threw that cigar away. The 3rd cigar smoked OK but was really bland and had serious burn issues. I had to correct it multiple times. Cigar construction, to me, is the most important aspect of a cigar. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

I was impressed with the cigar on my first order but had several bad burns with second batch. Not sure if just a bad batch or sign of things to come but I think I will pass on reordering.

Cigars looked good, but the wrapper was dry and flaked to the touch. Tended to center burn and the burn was uneven. Maybe it was a bad batch or too old.

Love this cigar,A great Deep,Dark maduro wrapper makes this perfect for anytime of the day,BUT I prefer to smoke these when I'm out in the wood, enjoying nature,or just enjoying some quiet time. The ONLY MAJOR ISSUE I HAVE WITH THESE CIGARS are more then half I've bought burns VERY UN-EVENLY.LITERALLY it lights the 1st time evenly with a good ashe head, then suddenly it starts to "canoe" ( which most smokers knows means but for you that don't ,it means it burns so un-evenly that it looks like a canoe,it burns down one side faster then the other). So its non-stop using a cutter to "HOPE-FULLY" get it to burn correctly by removing the 1/2 burnt side & also some of the ciagr so you are burning it like your 1st time but nothing solves this issues. This is a very good cigar other then that.Taste great & leaves you craving another one, thats how good these are.I normally buy the 5 packs deals so I can buy exactly what I want without breaking the bank by buying a bunch of Different boxes to get a wide selction ,BUT if this keeps happening,Then well, sorry too say, they will be going back & I'll find another brand of maduro wrapped cigars that can hopefully keep up with Rocky Patels high standards.

I bought this Rocky Patel in a sampler believing it would be a top notch cigar based on the reputation of RP. I was extremely disappointed. The initial flavoring left much to be desired and provided a horrible after taste. The burn was inconsistent and every puff tasted like I was licking my ashtray. I stopped smoking the first cigar after only getting half way through it. I decided it was one flawed cigar and tried another several days later after trying some of my other cigars that I know I enjoy. Again I was disappointed after lighting the RP cigar. I have twenty years of cigar smoking experience and have smoked hundreds of different cigar types and brands in a variety of countries, in a variety of wrapper types, from a variety of growers, and grown from different countries. My only other experience that left me feeling this unfulfilled by a cigar was my first Cuban cigar. The hype of RP's brand name recognition was not in this cigar. I will not buy the RP Maduro Gold in the future or recommend it to anyone. If it was not for having good experiences with RP in the past I would never buy or recommend RP to anyone either.
